It All Starts with God
September 3, 2025, 12:30 PM

This morning my devotion started with a question, "What on Earth am I here for?".  I thought and pondered the question and

Proverb 11:28 came to mind: "Anyone trusting in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like foliage.

So what am I here for, God? I don't have riches or money; I'm just me.  I am not an elegant speaker, nor do I inspire a multitude of people, and it seems that I fail more than most.  God, I am just me!!!

Colossians 1:16 says, "For everything was created by him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created through him and for him."

I was created by God, through him and for him.  I can argue with God all day about why I'm here, God I'm not schooled enough; I am not a good speaker (I have trouble getting the words to go from my brain to my mouth), and He only knows I can't stay still.  But again I was created by God, through him and for him.

So, when I put that into perspective, it all starts with God.  God knows my faults and my needs, but God I give them all to you.  Use me the way that you see fit.  Ephesians 1:11 says, "In him we have also received an inheritance, because we were predestined according to the plan of the one who works out everything in agreement with the purpose of his will,"  I like how The Message puts it, "It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for.  Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone."

So, if you're asking yourself the question, what am I here for, we are here for God's purpose.  I told you, it all starts with God, and if you allow him to use you, then you are part of his overall purpose.
